The Vision

Temple Days is a one day conference with a vision to see children and their leaders experience God’s Holy Spirit, grow in intimacy with Him and be empowered by His call on their lives.

As churches we long to see children grow as a direct result of meeting face to face with their Heavenly Father and encountering His Holy Spirit, but however big our vision, there is often a sense that there is only ‘so much’ we can provide for our children on a Sunday morning. Temple Days is designed to enhance our discipleship programmes and offer another format of ministry for children and their leaders. This one day conference will provide more time for children to hear God’s call on their life through workshops, worship, teaching and Holy Spirit-led ministry from within a larger crowd of peers than most churches have. This can then be taken back by leaders and children into their own setting.

What the Bible has to say about it...

Temple Days was inspired by Samuel, the environment he grew up in and his relationship with God.

We want our children to reach their full potential in God: “Raise up for myself a faithful priest [Generation], who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his [their] house, and he [they] will minister before my anointed one always”.   1 Samuel 2:35

We are called to create for our children temple-like experiences in their lives that mirror the temple environment Samuel had: “The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was. Then the LORD called Samuel and Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening.”  1 Samuel 3:3,4,10

We want to empower children to live their lives in the same way that Samuel lived his — shaped by growing up in God’s Temple: As Samuel grew up God was with him, and Samuel’s prophetic record was flawless. Everyone in Israel, from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, recognised that    Samuel was the real thing — a true prophet of God. 1 Samuel 3:19,20

Not all of the children we work with will be called to be prophets – but they are all designed to hear from God—to be close to him, to know his voice and answer his call on their lives: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me”   John 10:27

The Vision - for children (in Years 1 to 6)

A one day event of experiencing God for children and their leaders, that can be  easily replicated, developed and grown in local church settings.

A Samuel-like ‘temple’ experience that gives children the opportunity to go deeper in their relationship with God through:

- Worship, Teaching, Ministry, Soaking

- Holy Spirit workshops focused on prayer, prophetic creativity, worship

- Fun, Fellowship and Faith!

The Vision - for leaders

To create a space where local children’s leaders (volunteer and paid, adult and teen) can ‘learn as they serve’. By bringing in experienced practitioners to run workshops and sessions throughout the day, kids’ leaders are able to serve on team in the small groups and learn as they do the workshops with the children. A leaders’ session with the  practitioners at the end of the day will allow time for questions.

The BIG Picture

“I saw children flooding into the church building and lying down on the floor, they were playing sleeping lions. The children were quiet and content, some laughing and joking, but all enjoying themselves! There was a sense of joy and playfulness about the room.”

Children are called to play. Play with friends, play with Jesus and play as they find and define their spiritual journey with God. The prophetic doesn’t have to always be serious (think of the scenes that first Pentecost!). We need to rediscover ways of encountering our Heavenly Father which are joy-filled and free, enabling our children and leaders to discover the depths and heights of their spiritual relationship with their Heavenly Father. We can truly wake sleeping giants in the next generation!
